>Recycled Bead Feeder for a Blue Jay

The other day, I posted the progress of my beaded Blue Jay on my Facebook page. Since my Blue Jay was hungry, I dug through my bead stash and found him some seeds! Most of these beads are recycled beads - or beads I had collected from antique stores & old broken jewelry pieces, etc... I stitched them one by one to a piece of felt. Then, I stitched the beadwork to a piece of wire screen & wired my Blue Jay to the front! The bird is backed with bright blue Ultrasuede & signed by me. :) Here's a quick pic:
This was one of my beading experiments that actually turned out well - so well, that I think I will make more birds like this! I like it because the piece is heavy, sturdy, and balanced enough to stand on its own, and once I add a piece of chain at the top, it can also be hung on a wall or in a tree! ;) As soon as I take some better photos, I will list this in my Etsy shop - hopefully within the next couple of days! :)
I also have new details of an upcoming event for those who are in the Boston area. This Sunday, May 30, 2010 from 7-11pm, I will be showing a handful of my beaded paintings at Wonder Bar in Allston, MA as part of this month's Visual Enlightenment Art Showcase. Visual Enlightenment is a monthly group art show presented by Music Ecology and Wonder Bar. Each month Wonder Bar is transformed under the hands of talented local artists whose work is available for show and sale. Other artists participating this month include:
