I wanted to start painting today, but the fact is, I still had quite a bit of preparation to do on my beaded Beatles Yellow Submarine. Yes, this is the boring part, but remember- it's the details that will make or break the piece.

First, I prepared my Blue Meanie images by adhering them to canvas paper and painting over them with acrylics and clear gloss. Then, I stitched them to the bottom layer of the submarine. I also stitched the two felt filler-layers into place, as well as the top beaded layer. This took about 4 hours. Stitching the beaded layer to the rest of the piece took awhile because my thread kept getting caught on the seed beads or other parts of the piece. And, I had to trim excess felt as I went along. You can see the back of the stitched-together piece in the photo below.

Then, using more yellow Magatamas, I started to edge the belly of the sub.

I'd say I'm about halfway done. When I finish the beadwork, I think I'll finally be ready to paint my stretched canvas. :0
