Through the power of blogging, I met a guy named Stew. Stew posted a pic of these sheepdogs on his blog, and they belonged to a woman named Gigi. I was able to get in touch with Gigi, and told her that I fell in love with her dogs. She emailed me back to say that these dogs are no longer with her, which made me sad. I told her that I wanted to use her photo as a template to create a beaded sheepdog piece similar to Rudy's design. Gigi was thrilled, and continued to tell me a little more about her dogs...

Meet Bailey, Rachel, Eliza, and Genna. They were all show dogs. Rachel won a championship, and Bailey won a "Best in Show" during a local show in Georgia. But, that's not all. Gigi also told me that Eliza was on the cover of a book entitled "The Twelve Dogs of Christmas". It's obvious that these dogs were very special and worked very hard to achieve their goals. I like to think of them as divas...
Above is my initial sketch.

My goal is to make each dog stand out on its own, so I cut out some felt shapes. In the photo below, I've stacked up the felt, and stitched the pieces together. Eliza, the second dog from the left, is 4 felt layers high. She will stand out the most. Bailey is 3 layers high, and Rachel is only 2 layers high. You can also see that I've stitched on my tracing paper, because it helps me envision my finished piece. The felt foundation measures 4" x 6.25" wide. So, far I've already put in about 3 hours on this piece...
