>That's Alotta Yellow!

Today, I began to accomplish one of my goals for 2008 - organizing my seed beads... You've seen my seed bead drawer. I could really use some Help! with this project...
Here's what I've done so far. All of the seed beads in the photo below were originally purchased from Fire Mountain Gems a few years ago, and they came in little plastic boxes like the one in the lower right hand corner. It seems like a good way to store beads, but it really isn't. After opening a box several times, the lid becomes loose, and either it doesn't close all the way or it eventually falls off. I've had a couple of boxes of seed beads spill because of this, and it is very frustrating! So, today, I transferred all of the boxes of beads I had into ziploc bags. I also wrote down the colour and size of the bead on the bag. I think this will be a better method, especially since the bags will take up less space. My goal is to continue working on this, and hopefully organize my beads by colour.
But, where are all the yellow beads, you ask...

I looked through my entire bead stash the other day, and realized that I had very few yellow seed beads. This is not a colour I normally gravitate to... So, that prompted yet another trip to my local bead shop, Beaucoup Beads in Scituate Harbor, MA. (Boy do they smile when I walk in!:) I looked at all of the seed beads, but I just didn't find the colours I wanted... until I noticed the Magatamas. Magatamas look like drops (or teardrops), but they're really round with an off-center hole. I'd say they're a tiny bit smaller than a size 8 seed bead. I have never used these before, but I'm willing to try. They will certainly add a unique texture. Here are all the yellows I purchased, from left to right:
Peach-lined yellow
Matte transparent yellow
Transparent yellow
Matte transparent yellow Aurora Borealis
And, I am proud to say that I bought all of the peach-lined yellows in the store! :D

Next, I began planning my beaded Beatles' Yellow Submarine. Using Photoshop, I enlarged my drawing, and printed it out on 4 separate pages which I taped together. Now, the drawing measures approx. 17.5" x 12"!! If I can execute it, this will be the largest piece of beadwork I have ever created! :0

But, the question remains - do I have enough yellow seed beads??
Only time will tell... :0
