Let me tell you, it is hard work being an artist! Since I finished my latest piece, History Repeated, I've been busy promoting it. First, I added it to my portfolio and other webpages. Next, I sent out EBSQ ecards to all of my friends, and I announced it on the Bead & Button forum. Then, I created a new slideshow for my Myspace page. (Please check it out, and tell me what you think.) You'll also notice that I changed my profile pic to the beaded skull image. I know some of you will miss Rudy, but I needed a change. If you like the skull, you can add it to your website. Just copy & paste the following HTML:

Also today, at the last minute, I decided to enter this piece into a juried art show. I won't say which one, because I don't want to jinx it. I didn't think I'd be finished with this piece in time to enter, but since I was, I had to quickly get some materials ready, and send them via Express Mail. We'll see if anything comes out of that...
When I got home from the post office, I wired the back of my piece for hanging. I took another piece of art down to hang my new piece up. Like most of my work, it isn't very heavy, but the weight is distributed unevenly, so you have to balance it just right. When I took a few steps back, I felt very accomplished. This is my largest piece yet, and I really hope that someday it makes it into a gallery or museum. I want to see the expression on people's faces when they really look at it up close, and I want to know what kinds of feelings they experience while viewing it...
Until then, I must continue creating, and I'm just about ready to begin a new piece. I haven't done any beadwork in a few weeks, so I'm really looking forward to it. But, first, I need a sketch of my subject. I think you'll be surprised when you see what it is...
