>On Top of Beaded Ogee Arches
>
Yesterday, I began beading some details on my sinking St. Mark's Basilica. There are so many details on a piece like this and with beads, not all can be replicated. So, I have to choose which ones are most important. Besides the domes & spires, the statues at the top of the ogee arches are also important. In real life, statues of Theological and Cardinal Virtues, four Warrior Saints and St. Mark sit at the top of the arches to keep watch over the city of Venice.

In beadwork, I can only hope to give the impression of these details as one would view St. Mark's Basilica from afar. So, I used a simple bead embroidery edging technique around the top of the arches using pearl-gray size 11 Czech glass seed beads. So far, I think the technique looks okay, but I don't think I'm finished with this part just yet...

Semi-beaded Basilica di San Marco (Venice, Italy). 10" x 5.5" (24cm x 14cm).
You will also notice that I have layered even more size 15 seed beads in 2 different ice blue colours all around the domes! To those of you that have visited Venice, Italy, what other details must I include?
