Yay! I am so happy to announce that now this blog is being published on a custom domain, blog.thelonebeader.com. Please update the link in your bookmarks or on your website.
Also, remember when I told you about my work being in Upstream People Gallery's current exhibition?? Well, the gallery actually took my real name out of the exhibition like I was hoping, and listed my work under under 'L' for The Lone Beader. Cool!!! And, two of my pieces received Special Recognition which means that the gallery sends out a Press Release to my local newspaper! Today, they sent me the following copy of the press release they sent to the Boston Globe:

IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE
THE LONE BEADER
RECEIVES SPECIAL RECOGNITION
Artist THE LONE BEADER of QUINCY, MASSACHUSETTS has received two Special Recognition Merit Awards for her artwork in the "10th Annual Realism Juried Online International Art Exhibition” hosted by Upstream People Gallery. This international exhibition received approximately 200 entries from around the world and 40 artists were selected by the juror Larry Bradshaw, Professor of Art at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, U. S. A. Professor Bradshaw states this about this specially recognized work:
“THE LONE BEADER of Quincy, Massachusetts shows something different in terms of media, i.e., the use of glass seed beads. Two of her works are particularly engaging. “Engine Co. 6” is strong in the use of red and “The End” is very strong in the use of the photo imagery.”
The exhibition will be featured online through February 29, 2008 at www.upstreampeoplegallery.com and continue for 12 months, closing January 31, 2009. Further information about the artist and her work:
“'Engine Co. 6' is an extremely dimensional bead-embroidered replica of a 1943 Chevy Fire Truck and Dalmatian. This piece was created in memory of my childhood friend named Kristi Courteau. In 1984, she and her mother died when their home caught fire one cold winter night in Erie, PA... Kristi, you will never be forgotten... (Media: glass & sterling silver seed beads, mixed media. Dimensions: 12.5" x 7" x 2" D. Date of Work: 2007)
'The End' is a bead-embroidered shadow-box replica of a 1930's Bedford OB. My beaded replica of the British bus, which includes a working sliding door, was inspired by The Doors song, 'The End'. My psychedelic bus represents the 'vehicle' on which Jim Morrison abruptly ended his life. "There are things known and things unknown and in between are the doors." ~Jim Morrison (Media: glass seed beads, mixed media. Dimensions: approx. 14" x 8" x 4.5". Date of Work: 2007)"
