Gasoline District. 24" x 48". Click for detail images.
This morning, I was thrilled to find an email stating that my largest bead painting yet, Gasoline District, has been selected as a finalist in the Bead Museum DC's international juried bead & jewelry design competition! Awhile back, I wasn't sure my art qualified for Celebrating Beads, the journey of... , since it is being billed as a 'jewelry design contest'. But, I read the fine print - the purpose of this contest is 'to showcase beads in a new fashion, celebrating bead artistry and the designers who turn beads into art today.'
I am honoured to be a finalist. My work was chosen from 347 entries over 14 countries and 33 states! I don't know if my beaded Boston trolley will make it past the final round of judging and into the exhibit, though... I guess I'll have to head to Washington, D.C. in two weeks to find out! Wish me luck!! :o
