On the next leg of our journey, we headed west to Chicago. Muddy Waters stopped there to play a few gigs. Then, heading south, we revisited Highway 61 (also known as the Blues Highway), where Bob Dylan decided to get off the bus. Finally, we continued on to Port Arthur, Texas. This was where Janis Joplin was born, and this is where she joins us.

Janis Joplin was one of the greatest female blues vocalists of her time. She was born in 1943 - the same year as Jim Morrison of The Doors. Coincidentally, they had many of the same personality traits. They were both feisty & intelligent; they sang similar styles of music, and they both loved to drink. So, when Janis saw my blue beaded bus, as well as who was on it, she just couldn't resist=:)
