While I'm busy working on my beaded blue bus, I'd like to let everyone know that I've entered one of my pieces in this week's Saatchi Gallery Showdown. There are 12 Showdown rounds, and the finalists go head-to-head for a chance to have one of their pieces displayed at the new Saatchi Gallery in London.
The Saatchi Gallery is a gallery for contemporary art. It was opened by Charles Saatchi in 1985 to show his collection to the public. When it first opened, it ran a series of exhibitions of many American artists, including Andy Warhol. The gallery has been a major influence on art in Britain since its opening. Many artists shown at the gallery are unknown to the general public, and showing at the gallery has provided a springboard to launch their careers.
The Saatchi Showdown is a great opportunity for artists to spotlight their works to a very wide audience. This week is the 9th round, and just for fun, I have entered my very first bead-painting, Flamingo Moon.

Flamingo Moon was published in the June 2005 issue of Bead & Button Magazine, and it is also one of the few pieces of beadwork that I have made available for sale. I will try to remember to enter the next 3 Showdowns, as well... Please stop by and vote for my piece HERE, and don't forget to check out My Saatchi Gallery...
Now, I miss London and all of it's fine art galleries. I love that city, and I think I shall return there again next year... :)
Also, please stop by my secret blog I started with a friend.
War of Words. Enjoy:)
