In June, I went to Pittsburgh, PA to spend time with my sister, Julie. One of the places we visited was the Andy Warhol Museum. Andy Warhol is probably my favorite artist. I love his celebrity portraits, as well as the way he depicted everyday objects. While I was at the museum, I purchased a print of his 'Knives' in black & silver. I thought it would be perfect for my kitchen, and yesterday I finally got around to hanging it up. When I took the plastic off the print, I found a copy of this letter from the Museum of Modern Art inside:

The Andy Warhol Museum Archives contain boxes & boxes of correspondence and other materials that came across his desk. I wonder just how many letters there were that turned down his work. It's also quite interesting to see that À la recherche du shoe perdu by Ralph Pomeroy (a whimsical book of shoes illustrated by Andy Warhol) is part of the MoMA's Collection today.
