Almost 30 years ago, on September 16, 1977, a purple Mini headed down Queen's Ride near the Barnes Bridge in southwest London. The driver lost control, and the car veered off the road and struck a tree. When authorities arrived, they found that the car was occupied by Marc Bolan and his girlfriend Gloria Jones. (Marc fronted the English rock band, T-Rex. If you aren't familiar with the name, I'm certain that you're familiar with their biggest hit, 'Get it On'.) Gloria, the driver of the car, survived the crash, but Marc died almost instantly. He was only 29 years old...
The thing that I find intriguing about this case is the fact that Marc never drove a car. Even though he owned several cars, he refused to learn how to drive. He had a tremendous fear that he would end up dying in a car crash. Furthermore, Marc reportedly mentioned that he didn't expect to see the age of 30...
How is it that a fear such as this can become reality?
