>Everybody Loves Rachel
>
On a previous post, Jackie commented by saying "Bailey has a tiara and Genna a flower -- will Rachel and Eliza have something special for them, too???" I was actually thinking about that before she asked...
After re-reading the email that Gigi sent to me, I decided I should share Rachel's story.
"Rachel was our 'Party Girl'. She was the
exact same breeding as Eliza (same mom and dad--all four had the same
dad), but one year later. By the time this litter arrived, Jane
Worthmann (our breeder) was not doing very well health wise. So Rachel
was not as disciplined as the other dogs. I got Rachel one year later
after Jane passed away. Rachel was a wild doggie! She was not
housebroken, and was quite a force to deal with. But she was very
sweet, and wanted nothing more than to make you happy. She had the
most energy out of all of them, and thought dog shows were just
fabulous!!! She loved to socialize with people and other dogs. She
went from being a wild, unruly mess to becoming a Champion! And, we
ended up bonding very closely. On weekends, she would take a break
from her active social life and spend Saturday afternoons napping with
me on the couch. She would lay on me so closely, that Craig (my
husband) said it was like a gasket seal--nothing could separate her
from me during our naps. Rachel was a miracle. Shortly after she was
born, she developed a life threatening condition. Her intestines
collapsed, and she almost died--twice! She had two surgeries to
correct the problem within a 24 hour period. Jane named her
Stapleford's To Angels With Wings because she said Rachel was a true
gift from God. And, she was right."
After thinking about Rachel, I envisioned her wearing a medal like the ones she won at all the dog shows. I dug deep into my bead stash and found this tiny silver heart that I thought would be perfect for her. Afterall, nothing is more rewarding than giving the gift of love...
