>Discount Felt Shopping

After I posted the sketch of my new project, a beaded White House, I realized that I didn't have enough white felt to start the project! So, yesterday, I took a ride to Sew-Fisticated Fabrics in Dorchester. This is a discount fabric shop that actually has quite a bit of fabrics to choose from. I first discovered this store last year. It is a great place to get felt, vinyl, and Pellon interfacing for beading! They also carry some sewing notions and cute buttons, too. Needless to say, I bought a lot of white felt!

When I got home, I enlarged my drawing and printed it out. Then I began cutting out my felt White House...

Cutting out the basic shape of the building was not too difficult, but cutting out the windows was time consuming! I think it took me about an hour and a half just to do that! I also cut out 2 pieces of plum-coloured wool felt and stitched them in between the white pieces.

So far, my felt White House measures 17" x 6". This is only about half of the beading foundation, but it's a start! :D
