>Bus Ride
>
I'm sure it will not surprise any of you when I say that my next piece is actually inspired by a song. In 'The End' by The Doors, Jim Morrison mentions a blue bus. Most of you know Jim Morrison as the American rock star from the 1960's whose life ended abruptly in Paris at the age of 27. Both the music and lyrics to this song paint many images in my mind. I encourage you to listen and think about what this song means to you, as well as how it makes you feel. (If you are unable to play the music track, you can view the lyrics to the song HERE.)

Here is a drawing of a British Bedford OB. These buses were first produced in 1939, but they were a common sight in the the UK in the 50's and 60's. While I was in Europe, I noticed that many British vehicles made it over to Paris and Germany, as well. I love this vehicle's style, so I decided that this should be the shape of my beaded blue bus. My goal for this piece is rather simple. I want to create an extremely dimensional bead- embroidered bus that depicts a glimpse into Jim Morrison's life, career, and death. I plan to do this by eventually creating views into the windows and door, which is why it should be larger and even more structured than my beaded fire truck. If you have the patience, I invite you to take a ride with me in the back of the blue bus...
