Thanks for all of your comments on my self portrait sketch the other day! I will say that I laughed at those who thought I was watching a TV, though... You should know me by now. I don't watch television because I'm too busy listening to music! Television can have its moments, but I like to refer to it as 'bubblegum for the mind'... :)
My sketch is based on Hitachi Maxell's vintage 1980's ad campaign. The commercial featured a man sitting in a chair being blown away by the sound coming through the speaker in front of him. Since I'm always listening to rather loud rock music all the time, it only made sense that this should be the basis for my self portrait. My drawing does look pretty cool, doesn't it? I can only hope to replicate the vision I have for this piece using seed beads... :0
If you're a new reader, please have patience. You'll see that I document the progress of each of my bead-paintings as I work on them. Today I worked on the first step of my beaded self-portrait. I cut out many different felt shapes. Now that you've seen my drawing, look at the photo below, and see if you can tell which pieces belong where:

Next, I stacked all 12 layers of felt on top of each other.
Now, I'm the felted Maxell Girl, and my measurements are 5.5" x 9"wide:)

Next, I have to choose which beads to use...
