Beaded Song Sparrow on Branch
This week has been busy! First, I have begun working with a local jewelry designer helping her construct a few custom pieces. More details on that when the timing is appropriate.. I have also completed a beaded Bichon-Frise pin for my Etsy shop (You can see the finished dog on my Facebook page.) And, last night I finished my beaded Song Sparrow! :)

Beaded Song Sparrow. Bead embroidery on felt. 4" x 8" (10cm x 20cm).
At first, I had planned to stitch this little bird to a painted canvas, but it didn't turn out that way! Instead, I wired the sparrow to a twig that I collected on one of my beach walks. I stitched on the backing and added hanging hardware. Now, my beadwork can hang on the wall as is, not confined by a canvas or frame. I think this concept adds realism & freedom to the finished piece. It almost looks as if the bird will fly away at any moment! :O

I think I'll submit this small work to Cambridge Art Association's upcoming summer art fair. What kind of bird should I make next? :D
Also, just a quick reminder to those in Massachusetts. This weekend is the South Shore Art Center's 56th annual Arts Festival on the Cohasset Common! If you're in the neighborhood, please stop by and check out my beaded Boston Trolley! Please check the event page for more details. Hope to see you there! :)
