>Beaded Mall Sign
>
Yesterday, I decided to create a beaded version of the Twin Pines Mall sign. Twin Pines Mall is located in Hill Valley, the fictional town in the 1985 film Back to the Future. If you don't remember the mall parking lot scene in the original film, you can see a movie clip HERE.

(Twin Pines Mall sign. 3.5" wide x 1". Bead embroidery on vinyl.)
I don't have a lot of these little details planned- I think of them rather spontaneously. The sign is made from two pieces of vinyl. I used size 11 green seed beads and size 15 black & gold seed beads. This would probably turn out better if I had smaller seed beads, but I get really frustrated with anything smaller than 15's. So there it is. Also, I will say that it was not easy to bead the words. It takes precise stitching to do that, and it's still not even perfect in my eyes - maybe because my eyes are tired! Here's where the sign will be placed in my painting when it is finished:

Beaded Back to the Future DeLorean time machine.
Bead embroidery on felt & painted 16" x 20" canvas. Part 1 of 3.
I still think it needs a little more work, but the good news is, I am almost ready to start painting the canvas for Part 2! :)
Also, I would just like to mention that I have finally added a mailing list service to my website. I am hoping to start sending out a periodical newsletter starting next year. If you are interested in my beadwork, and would like Lone Beader news sent directly to your inbox, you are welcome to sign up on my website or on the sidebar of this blog. The mailing service is provided by Poplist.com. It is a French site, but it also works in English, so if you see a French page to register your information, just click the little British flag at the the top of the screen! Thank you for your interest in my beadwork! :D
