>Beaded Imminence of War
>

Well, it took me all week to stitch on the Ultrasuede & felt backing, but I am finally finished with my beaded M1 Abrams main battle tank. Check out the back of the piece to see the hanging hardware I attached:

For those of you who are new readers, I began working on this fiber art piece in mid-October 2009. This military tank consists of bead embroidery on felt using size 15 Japanese glass seed beads, hardware, and collage. Here are a few quick pics I took of the tank hanging on my wall. Check out: Imminence of War

It may be hard to tell from this pic, but the artillery stands out from the wall by 3" and the shadow below the tank (depicting the caskets of our fallen heroes) bends outward by 4"... hence the imminence...

The entire piece measures 21" wide x 9"tall x 4" deep (53 x 21 x 10cm).

Working on this piece was an uphill battle, one which I did not enjoy. The entire process was both mentally & physically grueling. I broke a few beading needles and I stabbed myself several times with the beading needle while stitching through the canvas paper collage. I also pricked my finger while stitching on the backing. I knew all of these things would happen eventually... In war, there are no unwounded soldiers.
