>Beaded DeLorean Suspension
>
Thanks for all your comments on my last post! I didn't really get far on my painting, but today I accomplished something that I had been wanting to do for awhile. I created a rear suspension for my beaded time-traveling DeLorean!

I was looking for a certain way to support this piece when it is stitched to a canvas. In the past I have used acid free matte board, but due to this piece's natural curvature, I decided that it wouldn't be ideal. So, I got a roll of metal fabric that looks much like a screen. Then, using a pair of wire cutters, I cut out the shape of my DeLorean.

Next, I lined it with felt because I don't want any sharp edges to damage the threads on the back of my bead embroidery. Then, I stitched the entire piece of metal to the back of my beadwork.

It will be hard to photograph this until it is finished, but my goal is to stitch only each end of the DeLorean to a stretched canvas, leaving the center of it to curve outward in a convex manner.

If this actually works, there will be nothing supporting the center of the beadwork! And, it will pop out of the canvas by at least 3"! Now, that would be some serious suspension! It would also be an example of art meeting science once again... :D
