Long time, no post! I have been busy working on a custom order for my Etsy shop during the past couple of days! I will show you that soon, but for now, I want to show you more of my beaded St. Mark's Square painting.

On my last post, Annie from Churches in Venice commented that she couldn't think of any detail that was missing, but I could! First, I wanted to add a railing around the upper register of the Basilica. I used white bugle beads and Delicas. I'm not sure I'm finished with that, but it's a start. I also stitched on some bronze seed beads in the center to represent the 4 bronze horses that stand at the top of the main entrance. I know they don't look like horses in my beadwork, but I think from a distance, the colouring will be reminiscent of them.

Then, I started filling in some of the felt on the right-hand side of the Basilica using charcoal beads. A bit of this side of the piece will be positioned underneath my felt Campanile, so I don't have much more to do here. However, I still have a few more details I need to add before I move on. I want to add some bronze seed beads to represent the lion at which stands at the top of the real Basilica. I also cut out some felt tower pieces, which you can see below. These should be beaded with white bugle beads and light pearl-gray seed beads. And, last but not least, my Basilica needs a cross at the top of every dome! I think once I complete these details, my beadwork will look unmistakably like a sinking beaded St. Mark's Basilica. What do you think?
