Today I had the morning free, so I decided to take a ride to Beaucoup Beads. I needed to look for parts for my Datsun. There, I found 4 round opalite beads that seemed to be perfect for headlight lenses. The silver parts that you see behind those beads are actually vintage metal buttons that I found in my grandmother's button box. I flipped them over, and placed the opalite beads inside. I also found a vintage plastic ring that will be perfect for a steering wheel; I just have to paint it. I haven't stitched anything on yet. (I did stitch a few layers of felt together, though.).... I need to get an idea of how these things look first....

Also, during my shopping trip, I found some tiny silver tube beads that I plan to use for the grill. And, in the photo below, you can see some of the beads I plan to use.
From left to right, the colors are:
11/o transparent orange (Czech)
11/o opaque luster orange
11/o opaque orange (Czech)
15/0 opaque orange (Miyuki)
11/o bronze luster (Delica)
11/o metallic brown iris (Delica)
As I was paying for my beads, a woman at the store asked me if I'd be interested in teaching the basics of bead embroidery at their shop. I'm going to give it some thought. I'll have to see if something like that would fit into my unpredictable work schedule.

Coincidentally, my Buick (my second hobby) wouldn't start in the parking lot of the bead store when I tried to go home. So, I called AAA, and had it towed to McBrien's Diagnostic Repair. They're putting a new starter in it today. The best thing was, someone at their shop drove me all the way home (15 miles). And, they're going to pick me up tomorrow so that I can pick up my car. It's nice to find an honest shop that has good customer service:)
