I started working on the foundation for my beaded '78 Datsun King Cab pick-up truck the other day, and last night, I finished cutting out all the pieces. The first piece in the photo below is a canvas paper shape, and will be the bottom layer. The rest are cut out of felt. I cut duplicates of some of the shapes, so they aren't shown in the photo. Altogether, there are 10 layers, including the canvas paper. Also, if you're wondering where the rear-view and side-view mirrors are, they'll be added on later as separate pieces.

Next, I stacked up all my shapes to get an idea of how my 3D effect will look. One of shapes includes a picture of a dog sitting in the passenger seat. I scanned an old family photo, re-sized the image, then printed it out and stitched it to the felt. I'll bead right over the picture.

This dog's name was Moosie. He was our family pet. He was named Moosie because he was one of the biggest Golden Retrievers you ever saw. He was such a good dog, too. Seeing old photos of him (like the one above) brings back many good memories. As a child, I spent many afternoons pretending he was my pillow while I watched cartoons. He was a good listener and he licked my tears away when I was sad. Also, he was always there for me when I couldn't sleep at night. Moosie lived to be 11 yrs. old.
