I had a wonderful time over the weekend at the 10th Annual Quincy Artsfest. Yesterday was the perfect day to enjoy an outdoor festival with family and friends. Many residents came to view and purchase local artist's work. And, there were many activities for children to enjoy, including Paint-Your Own-Pottery, and Pumpkin Painting, which looked like a lot of fun! Below are some photos so you can see.

The Lone Beader's Quincy ArtsFest 2007 photoset
This year, my beaded fire truck & pickup truck were part of the Juried Exhibition, and I was thrilled at the opportunity to show my work locally for the first time. Overall, the responses I received were very positive. I talked to several people from the Quincy Art Association about how my pieces were made, and how long they took to make, as well as the true stories behind them. I also noticed that many children were drawn to my work. That made me smile - maybe one of them will be inspired to try working with beads:)
Also, while I was there, I learned that I should probably display my beadwork on a backing that is not framed. For instance, my fire truck should be displayed on a white background... Also, a backing would add to the dimensions of the piece, as well as demand a larger area for display... I'll definitely work on that idea for a future showing... :)
