Haha! Gotchu! And, now that I have your attention, I'd like to point out that Barb interrupted my regularly scheduled blog by tagging me to participate in a meme. What is a meme? I didn't really know myself, but I looked it up and learned that a meme is "a unit of cultural information, such as a cultural practice or idea, that is transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another". So, I have to state 5 Things About Me, then tag 5 of my blogger pals to do the same. Here goes:

1. I am a roller coaster junkie. I can ride them all day and into the night. And, I never understood why they make you get off the ride... I love going to amusement parks, but if you're going to go with me, be prepared to ride every coaster in the park multiple times. Corkscrew, racer, double loop, inverted, wooden, or steel - you name it, I'm there. You can TRY to get me to ride something else, but you'll have to bribe me with something sweet, like a candy apple or peanut butter fudge. I am in heaven at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, which currently boasts 17 roller coasters=:0

2. Even though I have a need for speed, I have never been pulled over for speeding in my Buick. In fact, I've never been stopped by the cops for anything... *knock on wood*

3. I enjoy reading and writing Haiku, although I haven't written one in awhile. Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry. It is typically a 17-syllable verse form consisting of three metrical units of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. You can read some of mine HERE. On occasion, I contribute to Beer Haiku Daily, and last year, the Asahi Haikuist Network posted one of my poems in the English version of the online Japanese newspaper, Asahi.com.

4. I love red meat, especially filet mignon. And, I like it medium-rare, which means it's gotta be pink in the center. I could eat that every night for the rest of my life, and be very content. I also believe that whoever said that red meat is not good for you is lying.... Tell me, how can something that tastes that good be bad?? =:P

5. I love to collect postcards, especially vintage ones from my hometown of Erie, PA, as well as ones from old amusement parks. Anyone who knows me well knows that I love receiving postcards in the mail. So, if any of you would like to send me one, I'd be thrilled=:)

Also, while we're on the subject of amusement parks, it recently came to my attention that Coney Island in Brooklyn, NYC is being threatened by the real estate company Thor Equities, LLC. They want to do away with the park and put up luxury condos! We cannot let this happen. This park has been an important part of American cultural history since the 1860's. If you would like to help save Coney Island, please sign this PETITION, and forward it to everyone you know. Thank you.
